Anna Maria Island Fishing Charters March 27th-April 9th 2017 Report

April winds bring May flowers...

During the first week of April we seen strong winds all week, starting out of the south at 20-25 knots then ending the week with a strong 20-25 knot winds out of the north as a cool front passed over our area.  During the first part of the week fishing was steady with the South wind and the cool front approaching. The end of the week, when the front finally passed over, left the biting a lot tougher as high pressure from the cool front dominated the area. Bait is plentiful and can be found around the grass flats near Anna Maria Island and around structure in Tampa Bay. The Snook and Trout bite has been the most consistent. We have been catching plenty of Snook in the 20"-25" range (Picture) and lost several keeper Snook this week that we were hooked up with. The Trout bit has been good on the deeper grass edges in Sarasota Bay and Bradenton. Most of the Trout we are catching are around the 14"-20" range, most clients are ending the their trips with plenty of fish to take home to eat.  The Redfish bite has and counties to be sporadic. We are catching Redfish (Picture 1, Picture 2) but they are not in any particular pattern as of yet, some days the bite is really good with Redfish and other days its non-existent. This upcoming week we will see a full moon which brings stronger tides and the weather looks great for the upcoming week, the bite should be pretty strong and lots of fish should be caught!
