Anna Maria Island Fishing Charters June 22-28 Report

This week has been down then up. I started off the week with a couple trips that were tough fishing to say the least, I'll talk about that later. Bait did a disappearing act at the begging of the week and all the bait the was holding at the Skyway Bridge took off for deeper waters.  Later in the week I started going out off the beach to get smaller bait (barley fish-able), it has been plentiful and the fish seem to like it as well.

TARPON:

This week, overall, has been slow and steady with the Tarpon bite. We are still managing to get a couple fish, especially towards the end of the week. The beginning of this week proved to be very tough fishing. I worked my tail off trying to get bait and to get the bites, but sometimes its just not your day and the fish don't always want to corporate! Towards the end of this week the bite picked up (Video) as we got closer to the full moon and better tide cycles. While  Tarpon fishing we are still managing to pick up Mangrove Snapper, Grouper, and small Sharks to keep ourselves busy in between bites.

INSHORE:

Even the inshore bite was tough a the beginning of the week. We were still managing to catch some Snook and Trout, but it was tough! Like the Tarpon bite, towards the middle and the end of this week the bite really came on strong. We were finally able to get the Redfish going and on Friday we caught about 8 fish around 24"-31". The Snook bite was pretty awesome toward the end of the week. I believe this next week should be pretty good for fishing and the bite should remain strong. There are several smaller schools of Snook and Redfish being found on the flats in 2'-3' of water around bigger potholes. I only trout fished 1 day this week and the bite has remained consistent with fish moving towards a little shallower water around 3'. Also, this week we picked up a couple of flounder fishing in about 4'-5' of water on the sand near deep grass patches. If you are looking to book at fishing charter or fishing trip and are near Anna Maria Island, Bradenton Beach, Holmes Beach, Longboat Key, Bradenton, Sarasota, St. Pete, or Tampa areas book with Anna Maria Inshore Fishing, LCC call Fishing Guide Capt.
