Anna Maria Island Fishing Charters June 6th - 19th Report

Summer is here...

The fishing has been really good considering we had a tropical storm pass right over us during the second week of June. The Snook bite has been red hot as all the fresh water we got from the storm/ rain pushed the last remaining Snook from the rivers and backwaters to the mouths of large estuaries and rivers. I've had several smaller children on the boat this past week and they have been loving catching loads of Snook (Picture 1) (Picture 2) The Trout bite has also been consistent. Most days we are limited out or close to limited out on Trout for customers that want to take home some table fare.  We are starting to see the water temperature peak. This past week, most of the water temperatures were hovering in the mid to upper 80's in the afternoon.  We are starting to see some Mangrove Snapper moving into the shallows and have managed to catch a handful this past week. The Tarpon fishing has been pretty slow ever since the tropical storm came through. I've been talking to Captain that have been specifically targeting them over the past two weeks and they report that its been extremely tough to get the Tarpon to eat. Most trips, the guides are only hooking up 2-3 times. As we move father into summer the bite will slow down as the water temperature continue to rises, but we can still manage to catch a good number of fish as long as we have a moving tide.
